1. May I have directions to your store?
- Take MARKET STREET towards the upper end of the Downtown Mall (direction: Sprint Pavillon, City Hall, etc.)
- Turn RIGHT at the stop light just past the public library – this is 4th street.
- Our store will be on your RIGHT – after you pass through the pedestrian section of the Mall. (115 4th Street SE)
For those bringing records to sell, there is a loading zone/no parking directly in front of our store. This zone was established for our building; please feel free to use it. We can often come look at the records while they are still in your car, and/or help you move them into the store.
2. Is parking available?
Yes. Public parking is available all around the Downtown Mall area and parking meters have recently been installed along our street. If you are wanting to sell us records, feel free to use the no parking/loading zone in front of the store. It is there to serve the delivery needs of our building.
3. What are your hours of operation?
We are open most days 11 to 6pm.*
Friday and Saturday we stay open until 7pm.
Most Sundays we will be open from 1 – 4pm.*
*(things do come up and we will very occasionally be closed during regular business hours – to go in search of more fantastic vinyl, for personal reasons, inclement weather, etc. Feel free to call ahead at 434.760.3618 or check our social media feeds to be sure we’re open when you stop by!)
4. Can I bring vinyl to the store to sell for cash?
You may bring vinyl to our store to sell every day EXCEPT Sunday. If you would like to bring your records outside of regular business hours, just give us a call at (434) 760 – 3618.
5. Can I buy new vinylat Melody Supreme? Used vinyl?
Yes, and yes. Melody Supreme sells carefully inspected & VPI-cleaned used vinyl as well as a selection of new vinyl – including reissues and new releases. In addition, we’re always happy to special order pretty much anything you might be looking for.
6. Do you sell CDs?
No, we only sell vinyl records – LPs, 45s and 78s. (And limited runs of custom t-shirts, bags, and selection of cassette tapes.)
7. Will you have a new release on the day of its release?
Call us or send us a message by 2:30 pm the Wednesday before a release date and we will have a copy for you in the store by Friday.
8. Do you buy record players or stereo equipment?
Yes, we do! Working turntables that can be separated from their stereo receiver are something we often purchase. We will also purchase quality speakers and other hi-fo equiment in working order. If you have stereo equipment to sell, send us an email with the brand and model of your stereo plus a photo, if possible.
9. How much do you pay for records or turntables?
This depends entirely on the type of music/equipment and its condition. If we make you a purchase offer, it will always reflect the true & fair current value of your items.
Please Note: Melody Supreme purchases records and turntables for resale. For this reason, certain types of music, certain types of stereo equipement are more desirable than others. Our ‘tastes’ in this realm reflect those of our clients and is not intended to be a rebuke of any music, but mirrors simply what is popular, what is selling today.
