How Much do you pay?
“How much are my records worth?” is a very common question. The answer will depend on several things:
- What type of music do you have?
- What artists, which albums do you have?
- In what condition are the records and covers? (78s and 45s often are without covers – this is okay)
- How many records are in your collection? (This can be an estimate: 50, 500, 1000, 1000+, etc.)
Many businesses will offer you a flat fee for records because they suspect that you have no idea what your vinyl is worth. We don’t work that way. We will look at the entirety of your collection and offer you a percentage of its true market value. This way, if your collection contains items of value, you will earn much more than with a flat fee. An offer from Melody Supreme will always directly reflect the ACTUAL value of your records.
What happens after you buy my records?
Lots of stores purchase vinyl and put it directly on the shelf. Yuck! At Melody Supreme, EVERY RECORD that comes through the door is inspected, cleaned with a VPI machine, covers are repaired, sleeves are renewed if necessary, etc. After this a record will either be sold in our store or individually listed to be sold online. It’s a lot of work, but we do this out of respect – respect for the vinyl, respect for the music, and respect for our clients. When you buy a record from us, it will probably be cleaner and sound better than the day it came off the press!
